Are you the one keeping your own dreams from happening?
I used to be the one keeping my own dreams from happening, simply because I didn’t let myself have them. I spent so much time trying to fit in. I tried to suppress the dreamer and the feeler in me, forcing myself to fit into corporate and act the way I thought I was supposed to act.
But eventually, I just wanted to see what the world actually looks like. So, I packed up and went solo traveling.
I stayed away for eight months. And when I finally arrived back home, I realized something major had changed. While I was out there, I was completely free from all the roles I used to play. And in that freedom, I finally just let myself be me. I let myself feel, live, laugh, and dream. I allowed myself to be completely delusional about what is possible.
Now, I carry that exact feeling with me in everything I do. I don't hide who I am anymore. I let myself dream big, I cry in front of others if I need to, and I just live authentically. Going out into the world didn't just give me a break—it completely changed me.
If you’re reading this and feeling a heavy weight in your chest, ask yourself: How do I actually feel right now?
If you feel trapped in the roles you’re playing, know that you are not alone in this. You don’t have to keep suppressing the parts of you that want to feel and dream. Maybe you need to pack a bag and go solo traveling too, just to remember who you are when nobody is watching. Whatever it takes, stop keeping your own life from happening. Allow yourself to take that first step.
